Next Steps in the Digital Humanities: Playing in a DH Sandbox

This online session will be a follow-up to First Steps in the Digital Humanities, though having attended the first session is not a prerequisite.

Next Steps in the Digital Humanities will carry forward the theoretical orientation from the first session into a more practical exercise. We will be looking at Gale’s Digital Scholar Lab, a product which integrates Gale’s electronic primary source collections with a number of open-source text analysis tools to create a sort of “digital sandbox” that is ideal for newcomers to DH who want to begin experimenting. Due to the remote nature of the session, it will be more of an interactive demo than a hands-on class - it will, however, be recorded for future reference when attendees get around to trying it out for themselves.

Note that only current McGill students, faculty, and staff will have remote access to the Digital Scholar Lab.
