Research Data Management for the Health Sciences and Medicine

This workshop will provide attendees with an overview of the best practices for efficiently managing data during the research process with a focus on research labs and the health sciences (including research teams or groups). Just like project management, implementing effective research data management (RDM) practices is an important way to save time, stay organized, and ensure that your research process and results are reproducible; a cornerstone of robust research. Attendees will participate in hands-on activities to learn about file naming conventions, folder structures, and metadata. We will also briefly introduce related topics such as options for storing data securely, especially data that contain personally identifiable information (PII) or personal health information (PHI), data documentation best practices (e.g. README files), and the preservation and storage of data over time. Towards the end of the session, there will be time for Q&A.

This workshop is open to the public and any health science or medical researchers and/or research groups are invited to attend. It will later be translated in French in collaboration with CHU Sainte Justine.
