Many open access publishers require authors to select a Creative Commons license for their work. However, authors sometimes have difficulty understanding what these licenses mean as well as the difference between the various options (e.g., CC-BY, CC-BY-NC  etc.). 

This workshop will cover some basics of copyright in publishing and will outline what to consider when selecting a Creative Commons license.  

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

• State what Creative Commons licenses are
• Describe the differences between the licenses
• Describe the different copyright models in publishing
