This workshop will give you the tools to understand, discover, and engage with primary sources held at the McGill University Library. Whether you are beginning a project with primary sources, or just want to learn more about what rare and unique items are held at McGill, this workshop is for you.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to distinguish primary sources from secondary sources
  • How to develop research approaches to primary sources
  • How to find primary sources online and in person
  • How to understand gaps and silences in primary source collections
  • About different types of documents
  • How to use critical thinking with primary sources
