Digging into Canada’s Census of Population

Digging into Canada’s Census of Population

Conducted every 5 years by Statistics Canada, the Census of Population can be used to describe demographic, social, and economic aspects of Canadian society and to track changes in these areas over time. Learn where to find summaries of census data, where to download the raw data file and accompanying documentation, and how to work with the raw data file in R or Stata software to create a custom table. This workshop will provide an overview of how to extract what you need from the census.

Note: This workshop assumes that participants have used R or Stata software before. Instructions for creating custom tables in both software packages will be provided.

Please contact Giovanna Badia giovanna.badia@mcgill.ca with any questions about this workshop.
