How to Read an AI Image - Love Data Week
Eryk Salvaggio suggests that the best way to understand AI generated images is as an infographic: a data visualization shaped by whatever material was used to train it. In this talk, Eryk will discuss ways of looking critically at these images, and present findings from his research into generated images, archives and datasets from his fellowship at the Flickr Foundation.
Eryk Salvaggio is a researcher and media artist interested in the social and cultural impacts of artificial intelligence. His work explores the relationships between archives, AI datasets, and cultural memory, with the aim of examining the gaps between datasets and the world they claim to represent.
