Fibres & Folios - Fibre arts Meetup in Rare books and Special Collections

Join us for a monthly fibre arts gathering inspired by the holdings of Rare Books and Special Collections at McGill University. Crafters are invited to bring their own knitting, stitching, or other fibre arts projects and work alongside others in an informal, welcoming setting.

Whether you are beginning a new piece or continuing a work in progress, this is a space to share techniques, exchange stories, and draw inspiration from the textures, forms, and histories preserved in the Libraries’ special collections. Each session will showcase an item from the rare collections—ranging from historical pattern books to artists’ books and printed ephemera—offering a point of connection between material history and contemporary making.

Facilitated by librarian and knitter Jacquelyn Sundberg, a collaborator on the Wartime Textiles Research initiative, this monthly series brings together handcraft and book history, connecting past and present through making.
