From dissertation to publication (and vice versa): Dialogues with author and more

Interested in turning your music research into a published book chapter? Join us for a conversation with Sean Wood, PhD candidate in Musicology, who has recently collaborated to publish in an edited volume titled The Oxford Handbook of Music and Grief (OUP, 2027). Drawing on firsthand experiences, the speakers will share their journey in academic book publishing, from developing an idea to navigating the publication process.  At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • understand how opportunities to contribute to edited books and book chapters arise,
  • learn how authors develop and refine chapter topics from existing research, including dissertations and theses,
  • gain insight into working effectively with editors and contributing to collaborative publishing projects,
  • explore strategies for promoting published work and building scholarly visibility, and,
  • identify practical tips and common challenges for first-time academic authors.
