 d’artiste-en-résidence Michele Larose – Bibliothèque Osler. Ce prix 
 est décerné chaque année à un ou plusieurs candidats méritants 
 titulaires d’un diplôme en arts visuels ou dans un domaine connexe et/ou 
 ayant un parcours d’exposition de travaux artistiques dans des lieux 
 professionnels.\n\nAccessible pendant les heures d’ouverture.\n\n\nAbout 
 the exhibit\n\nIn The Body in Pain\, Elaine Scarry wrote that "to have pain 
 is to have certainty\; to hear about pain is to have doubt".  \n\nThis 
 influential statement\, alongside research into early pseudoscientific 
 anatomical iconography\, graphic pathography\, and discourses in 
 contemporary ecofeminisms\, forms the basis of ouch ouch ouch\, an 
 exhibition of new work on the somatic\, temporal and poetic dimensions of 
 physical pain. \n\nOuch ouch ouch will debut an artist book of speculative 
 illness morphologies\, based on a collection of sensation maps assembled 
 through a daily practice of body scan meditation. Alongside the internal 
 phenomena of pain\, a series of gestures representing the duration of the 
 residency (or a single very long\, very painful moment) explores the 
 non-linear\, dilatory\, and atemporal nature of illness.   \n\nThe 
 accompanying text addresses the act of viewing and draws into question the 
 visible external boundaries of the human form in an extended reflection on 
 the presence of others\, objects and non-human animals in early anatomical 
 texts. \n\nEv Ricky   \n\nOnce described as “pert” and “young” by 
 Vaginal Creme Davis\, Ev Ricky (they/them/theirs\, xe/xyr/xyrs) is a 
 multidisciplinary visual and literary artist\, cultural worker\, agender 
 and TME dyke\, and white settler. Agender\, immunocompromised\, and 
 chronically ill with an invisibilized disability\, Ev is interested in 
 using bodily forms and processes in their work to tangle with the poetics 
 of access and the non-consensus reality of being in a sick body as a 
 fundamentally unknowable\, inarticulable position. Xyr artistic and 
 curatorial work has been presented at Centaur Theatre\, Ada X\, Modern Fuel 
 Artist-Run Centre\, CV2\, Entrails Magazine\, the FOFA Gallery\, the Isabel 
 Bader Centre for Performing Arts\, and in the award-winning anthology of 
 transgender comic art “We’re Still Here”.  Alongside their current 
 work for the Michèle Larose-Osler Library artist residency\, xe is working 
 on a comic art manuscript entitled I Wouldn’t Lie to You. You can follow

 l’exposition\n\nDans son livre The Body in Pain\, Elaine Scarry écrit : 
 « On peut douter quand on entend parler de la douleur\, mais on sait avec 
 certitude quand on a mal. »\n\nCette déclaration forte de même que les 
 recherches sur l’iconographie anatomique pseudoscientifique ancienne\, la 
 pathographie et les discours de l’écoféminisme contemporain sont à la 
 base de l’exposition ouch ouch ouch\, qui présente de nouvelles œuvres 
 sur les dimensions somatique\, affective\, épistémique\, temporelle et 
 poétique de la douleur physique.\n\nL’exposition donnera également lieu 
 au lancement d’un livre d’artiste sur les morphologies spéculatives de 
 la douleur\, basé sur une série de cartes de sensations corporelles 
 établies grâce à une pratique quotidienne de la méditation par balayage 
 corporel. Parallèlement aux phénomènes internes de la douleur\, une 
 série de gestes représentant la durée de la résidence (ou un moment 
 unique\, très long et très douloureux) explore la nature non linéaire\, 
 dilatoire et atemporelle de la maladie.\n\nLe texte d’accompagnement 
 traite de l’acte de regarder et remet en question les limites externes 
 visibles de la forme humaine dans une réflexion approfondie sur la 
 présence d’autres personnes\, d’objets et d’animaux dans les 
 premiers textes anatomiques.\n\nEv Ricky\n\n« Espiègle » et « jeune 
 »\, voilà ce qu’a déjà dit Vaginal Creme Davis au sujet d’Ev Ricky 
 (iel)\, une personne butch agenre ne subissant pas de transmisogynie et 
 appartenant à la race blanche colonisatrice qui combine l’art visuel et 
 littéraire multidisciplinaire au travail social. En tant que personne 
 agenre immunosupprimée atteinte d’une maladie chronique et d’un 
 handicap invisibilisé\, Ev utilise des formes et des processus corporels 
 pour mettre en relation la poétique de l’accès et l’expérience non 
 consensuelle de la maladie en tant que position fondamentalement impossible 
 à connaître et à décrire. Ses œuvres et ses revues artistiques ont 
 été présentées au théâtre Centaur\, à Ada X\, au Modern Fuel 
 Artist-Run Centre\, dans CV2 et Entrails\, à la galerie FOFA\, au Isabel 
 Bader Centre for Performing Arts ainsi que dans l’anthologie primée de 
 bande dessinée transgenre We’re Still Here. En plus du projet qu’elle 
 réalise dans le cadre du programme d’artiste-en-résidence Michele 
 Larose – Bibliothèque Osler\, Ev prépare également une bande dessinée
